Certifications
ISO 9001:2008
Moonen Packaging has been ISO 9001 certified since 1999. This quality scheme improves efficiency on the workfloor and ensures less waste at the end of the process. The certification also proves the ability of the organisation to consistently deliver products that meet both customer and statutory requirements. For us, quality is not the result of coincidence. The certification is re-evaluated periodically in order to guarantee our standard of quality.
ISO 14001
This standard presents the requirements for an environmental management system. Companies systematically try to identify, manage and, where possible, reduce the environmental aspects (resulting from their activities and products). This leads to a reduction in environmental impact, cost savings and an enhanced company image. This standard can be used by both internal and external parties (including certification institutes).
Certification BRC/IOP
Moonen Packaging, of which Moonen Natural is a part, is BRC/IOP certified. In the first place, this certification is aimed at a high standard of hygiene to prevent contamination of the packaging materials. Beside good hygiene, the traceability of the materials and quality control is also important.
The BRC/IOP certificate is based on an assessment standard of the British Retail Consortium and the Institute of Packaging. The British Retail Consortium is a joint venture of several major British Retail organisations. In 1998, this cooperation resulted in a joint assessment standard for suppliers of foodstuffs. In October 2001, a new version, whose roots can be traced back to this standard, was published for the suppliers of packaging materials for food. This new version is now known as the BRC-IOP standard. A second version of this standard came out in August 2004.

A packaging item is compostable (or biodegradable) when it meets the following criteria:100% compostable EN 13432 Seedling logo
- The material and its relevant organic elements are biodegradable by nature (can be proven by means of laboratory tests)
- Decomposition of the material takes place in a process for organic waste;
- The product may have no adverse effect on the composting process;
- The quality of the compost must not be adversely affected by the product.
All our products that are certified in accordance with EN 13432 carry the seedling logo.
